Picnik Blogger Header Tutorial

I have received a few requests for tutorials on how to improve your blog.
So, I decided to make a series!

Today's post is a tutorial on how to make a custom (non-photo) header using picnik.
Picnik.com is a photo editing website you can use for free!
These instructions can be modified to suit your personal taste.

Step 1:
Start a collage and turn the background color to white then hit done without adding photos.

Step 2:
Go to the create tab, then the frames tab, and give it a temporary border so you can see what you are working with.

Step 3:
Move over to the stickers tab and select a geometric rectangle.

Step 4:
You can modify the rectangle into a stripe by pulling the corner circle.
The top circle also changes the direction, in case you wanted to make it diagonal.
Move them to the place you want them.
Each color has a number so if you want them all the same color, make sure they are all the same number.

Step 5:
Go to the text tab and enter the text you want.
There are a variety of fonts to choose from, just place your words and choose the font to see what looks best.
Change size, location, and color.

Step 6:
Go back to the stickers tab and select a speech bubble.
Flip the direction and move it around until it looks right.

Step 7:
Add more text. Use spaces to get it centered right.

Step 8:
Go back to the Edit tab at the top and select the cropping tool.
Crop off your temporary border.

Step 9:
Resize your header to be the width of your blog.
(We will go over how to change the width of you blog in another post)

Step 10:
Save your header.

Step 11:
Tada! Look at that cool header you just made!
You are awesome.
Upload it in place of your blog title.

New Header!

I made a new header for my Inspire Me blog.
I'm really getting into the whole design aspect of blogs and I really like it.
Of course, it doesn't hurt to have Tommy the programmer to make all of my design dreams come true.
So what do you think?

Oh, brother!

I've done a few pretty cool photo shoots lately.
Tommy won't let me touch them until I'm finished editing wedding photos though.
I get it, but I'm ready to move on now (it's not that I don't enjoy it, I'm almost done, but there are just so many!).
Tommy sure knows how to motivate me!

Isn't my brother a stud?

Fondue Party!

The Friday before Valentine's Day we were invited by a super cute couple to a party they called "Fond of You" Fondue Party.
The house was decorated with streamers and hearts all around and we listened to love songs throughout the evening.
We made our own personal sized pizza and heart shaped pasta and drank sparkling cider.
Then we watched "Sixteen Candles" and had mint chocolate fondue for dessert!
It was such a fun time and it was great to hang out with other couples that also have babies!
Thank you Michael and Sara for a great night!

My Favorite Things on Etsy

As I was making this list, I noticed a color theme.
I am in love with yellow and gray!
I come across a lot of lovely things on etsy.com and every time I find something I love, I bookmark it.
I have compiled a list of my favorite things as of late.
I hope you enjoy it!

1. Medium Hobo Bag: I have the large hobo bag that I use as a purse/diaper bag. It's great for me because I can just take out some baby stuff and take the same bag to work!
2. Wooden Love Sign: I love this love sign. I want one in white to put on top of my headboard (when I get one).
3. Rosette Headband: I have been seeing rosettes everywhere lately and I love them on a headband. So simple and sweet.
4. Paper Straws: So much better than regular straws, don't you think?
5. Plaid Bow-ties: I just love these! I can't get Tommy to wear them but as soon as Cameron is big enough, he is wearing them!
6. Gold Heart Ring: I usually don't wear rings (aside from my wedding ring) and I never wear gold, but this is so simple and lovely I would wear it everyday.
7. Sailor Bag: I love this bag! It's not very practical for me to use as an everyday bag, but it would be wonderful as a beach or travel tote. It's just so cute!
8. Giant Wooden Scrabble Tiles: Have I told you about mine and Tommy's love for Scrabble? It's true, we love it. These giant tiles would be perfect for us!

V-Day Date

These days it's quite a big deal to go on a date without baby.
Actually, I don't really like it that much.
Not that I don't love having alone time with my wonderful hubby, I just miss my baby.
Yes, I guess I am one of those women, but I don't care.
Anyway, we made an exception for Valentine's Day and left baby with his grandparents (They just adore him!).
We had a very lovely time at Carrabba's and ate really yummy food.
Don't mind the incredibly horrible photos. It was quite dark. :)

4out of 5

I love this little penguin lunch box! It is slightly smaller than I thought it would be but it still does the trick. Plus, it has a cute tag to write your name on!

Baby Laughs

Little Cameron has started laughing.
We love it so much!

The Force

Tommy has a love for Star Wars.
We laughed when we saw this commercial.
If Tommy has his way, that might be our little Cameron one day.

Blessed Day!

We blessed little Cameron last Sunday along with his cousin Bryce.
We were so happy to have so many of our friends and family members there with us!
We had such a fun weekend hanging out with those we love.
It's so nice that Cameron has cousins so close to him in age. What great friends they will all be!
I love my family!

Paint Romance

How sweet are these paintings from Casey Oconnell?
I am in serious need of more wall art and one of these would just be lovely.
I'm not sure how much they cost but it's probably too expensive for me.
Do you think I could paint one myself? Yeah... me neither.

wedding bells are ringing!

I photographed my first official wedding this weekend.
It was a lot of work and I definitely learned a lot.
Overall, I feel it went pretty well.

This is one of my favorites.
What do you think?
