Inukshuk!

In the North West Territories of Canada there are land markers called inuksiut (non-plural inukshuk). They are rock formations that look like a big rock man. They used to be used as travel markers so that people wouldn't get lost. They are very popular in Canada and will even be used as the symbol for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, BC.

I happen to work with a pretty cool Canadian named Darryl. He said that he had seen an inukshuk on his way back from lunch the other day and we were all really excited to see for ourselves.

We decided to take a small field trip down the road to the Heard Museum, where sure enough, in Phoenix, a real live (but not really live) inukshuk! We were so excited!

I took some pictures for your viewing pleasure. This is pretty much awesome and I think I want one in my backyard.
